We are expanding our legal team and seeking an experienced, motivated and detail-driven Solicitor/Australian Legal Practitioner to join MyVisa Immigration Lawyers on a full-time basis at our Pitt Street head office in Sydney.
The role reports directly to the Principal Lawyer and offers exposure to a high-quality and varied immigration law caseload, including visa applications, sponsorship and nomination matters, skilled migration, client advisory work, Departmental correspondence, legal submissions, and tribunal or court-related preparation where required.
This position is suitable for someone who thrives in a focused, well-resourced legal environment, enjoys direct client contact, and wants to do work that genuinely assists clients with important immigration and legal matters.
Key responsibilities include:
- Advising and assisting clients in Australian immigration law matters;
- Preparing and reviewing visa applications, sponsorship and nomination documents, and supporting evidence;
- Drafting legal submissions, statutory declarations, client statements, and correspondence to the Department of Home Affairs and review bodies;
- Conducting legal research on migration legislation, regulations, policy and relevant case law;
- Liaising with clients, employers, government departments and other stakeholders;
- Managing client files, deadlines, document requests and case progress;
- Assisting with complex immigration matters, including refusals, review matters and compliance issues.
Required qualifications and experience:
- Admission as a solicitor in Australia or eligibility to practise as an Australian legal practitioner;
- Current or eligible NSW practising certificate;
- Bachelor of Laws, Juris Doctor or equivalent legal qualification;
- Strong legal drafting, research and communication skills;
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage strict deadlines;
- Ability to work professionally with clients from diverse backgrounds;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a legal team.
Experience in Australian immigration law, employer-sponsored visas, skilled visas, protection visa matters, merits review, or Departmental correspondence will be highly regarded.
