About the Role
We're looking for a Mainframe Automation Support Engineer to join our team and play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the automation capabilities that support our critical IBM Mainframe environment.
As a Mainframe Automation Support Engineer, you'll be responsible for supporting the monitoring, automation, stability, and operational performance of ANZ's IBM Mainframe platform. Working across a broad technology landscape, you'll help ensure the reliability and resilience of critical banking services through effective automation, proactive monitoring, incident response, and continuous improvement initiatives.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with foundational mainframe knowledge who is keen to deepen their expertise in automation engineering within a large-scale enterprise environment.

Work Hours: Full-Time What will your day look like?
You will be responsible for:
Support and maintain IBM Z System Automation and mainframe monitoring services.
Monitor system health, respond to operational alerts, and assist with incident management and problem resolution.
Implement, test, and validate approved automation and monitoring changes.
Troubleshoot automation-related issues and support service restoration activities.
Contribute to automation engineering initiatives that improve operational efficiency and system reliability.
Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort through enhanced automation coverage.
Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and support knowledge repositories.
Ensure compliance with change management, risk, audit, and operational control requirements.
Collaborate closely with infrastructure, security, storage, scheduling, and operations teams to improve service stability and resilience.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
Foundational experience or knowledge of IBM Mainframe (z/OS) environments.
Exposure to automation and monitoring technologies within enterprise platforms.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Experience supporting production environments and operational processes.
Understanding of incident, change, and problem management practices.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Experience with the following would be highly regarded:
IBM Z System Automation
REXX scripting
TSO/ISPF
SDSF
JCL
RACF
Mainframe operations and scheduling tools
Enterprise monitoring and event management platforms
