Parkes Public School is a K-6 school with an enrolment of approximately 365 students. Our school is on a split site with separate playgrounds for the K-2 and 3-6 students. We have 15 mainstream classes and six support classes. Over 36% of our students are from an Aboriginal background. We have a growing percentage of students who belong to a family where English is a second language.
Our school operates exceptional programs, including a very effective transition program for Preschool to Kindergarten, Year 2 to Year 3 and Year 6 to Year 7. The students enjoy a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment. Student learning is enhanced by utilising the latest technologies in all curriculum areas. We are a Positive Behaviour for Learning school, and we have a strong history of academic, sporting and performing arts success. Our focus on student wellbeing across K-6 provides an environment where students are encouraged to connect, succeed, thrive and learn.

Proven ability to lead and embed evidence-based teaching practices with a strong focus on explicit teaching, developing teacher expertise through targeted coaching and feedback, and ensuring consistent, high-quality teaching across the school.
A proven collaborative leadership style that empowers teachers to effectively use literacy and numeracy data to enhance learning outcomes for all students.
Demonstrated capacity to work successfully with the leadership team, balancing exemplary teaching with the demands of leading, supporting and promoting quality teaching practices.
Evidence of a deep understanding of student wellbeing with a strong understanding of equity and diversity to build positive relationships and an inclusive school culture that ensures that every student can thrive and flourish.
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
