About the program
AIR6500 is the RAAF’s $3 billion program to develop a joint air battle management system that builds on the capabilities offered by Next Generation sensor and command and control systems. AIR6500 will create a fully networked ‘system of systems’ that synchronises air and missile defence operations in joint and coalition environments, maximising situational awareness and enhancing the speed of decision making across the battlespace.
Your responsibilities will include:
The Senior Cyber Engineer’s primarily responsibilities include:

Manage system security requirements for decomposition across subsystems for Mission and Support Systems

Assist Product Engineers and Systems Architects with definition of design artefacts using Model Based Engineering tools
-
Plan and oversee cyber security test and evaluation activities including test plans and test events
-
Perform system reviews, provide recommendations that mitigate system security risk
-
Drive conduct of cyber risk assessments, including threat modelling, vulnerability analysis, ana analysis of mitigation solutions throughout the product lifecycle

Deliver core Security Documentation in support of System Authorisation activities

Guide security design activities led by the Lead Cyber Architect

Provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) advice and guidance to a range of stakeholders with respect to security architecture, securing engineering, and cyber security supply chain

Review security architectures and technical solution designs

Troubleshoot technical issues and provide general cyber subject matter expertise to the engineering team
-
Manage ongoing planning and estimating, status monitoring, measurement and reporting regimes for Cyber Security activities
-
Drive technical guidance, mentoring, direction and training as required to build overall ICT knowledge and capability
-
Address system-of-system architectural needs by analysing all layers of embedded security within given WAN/LAN architecture

Apply Cyber Security standards, directives, guidance and policies to an architectural framework
-
Stay informed of the latest cyber threats, technologies and legislation to ensure best practice is applied
-
Lead the development of security requirements during the functional analysis phase of the program
-
Identify, review and make recommendations proposed by security audits and reports
-
Remediate identified security risks and promote a philosophy of preventative mitigation activities including awareness and training
About you:
- Extensive experience working with Defence security frameworks including the Defence Cyber Security Assessment and Authorisation Framework (DCSAAF), and Australian Special Access Program Implementation Guide (ASIG)

Extensive experience defining security services and design patterns, and aiding development teams in implementation

Extensive experience working with cross domain solutions and multi-level security architectures
Desirable
-
Certified security professional with either ISC2, GIAC or ISACA certifications and/or demonstrated experience in information system security design or operations

Extensive experience with the systems engineering lifecycle and methodologies
-
Substantial experience with Model-Based Engineering (MBE) concepts and tools
-
Advanced understanding of virtualisation concepts, tools and solutions
-
Previous exposure to the Australian Defence industry and ASDEFCON process
-
Experience with the DOORS requirements management tool, including tool setup and schema development
-
Significant understanding of Configuration Management and Change Management
Special Requirements:
