An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Technical Services Manager to join our team in Charters Towers.
About the role
The Technical Services Manager will provide leadership and governance across all technical services functions, supporting safe, efficient, and sustainable mining operations. This role is integral to mine planning, operational performance, and strategic decision‑making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and oversee mine designs, schedules, and planning documentation.
- Reconcile planned versus actual performance and drive continuous improvement.
- Lead all mine planning activities, integrating geology, survey, geotechnical, drill and blast, in line with production and business targets.
- Manage all drill and blast design, execution, fragmentation performance, and contractor interfaces.
- Lead short-term, mid‑term and life-of-mine planning, geological modelling, survey validation, in line with production and business targets.
- Coordinate all survey activities including pit pickups, set out, as-built surveys, volume reconciliation, stockpile surveys, and statutory survey support.
- Act as a key technical advisor to senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to technical services personnel across engineering, geology, and surveying.
- Analyse performance data and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Key Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in mining technical roles, including at least 3–5 years in senior technical leadership or management positions.
- Extensive experience in open-cut gold mining operations.
- Strong technical expertise in mine planning, resource estimation, grade control and reconciliation.
- Proficiency in mine planning and geological software (e.g. Deswik, Datamine, or similar).
- Demonstrated leadership capability in complex operational environments, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary technical teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present technical information to executive management, the Board and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience acting as a Competent Person under the JORC Code (2012 Edition), including preparing, reviewing and signing off Mineral Resource and/or Ore Reserve information for ASX announcements and other public reporting.
- Postgraduate qualifications (MBA, Master's degree or Chartered Professional status) will be highly regarded.
