About the Role
We are seeking experienced Female Support Workers with a strong background in supporting individuals with complex needs, including challenging behaviours, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), schizophrenia, suicidal ideation, and religious delusions.
The successful candidates will provide compassionate, person-centred support while maintaining a safe and respectful environment. You will be confident in using positive behaviour support and effective de-escalation techniques, promoting independence and dignity, and responding appropriately to situations involving mental health and emotional distress.
Experience and confidence in medication administration, following prescribed medication protocols and organisational procedures, is also required.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing person-centred support tailored to individual needs and goals.
- Supporting individuals experiencing challenging behaviours and mental health symptoms.
- Recognising and responding appropriately to suicidal ideation and changes in mental state.
- Using calm, respectful and effective de-escalation strategies.
- Supporting medication administration in accordance with prescribed instructions and relevant policies.
- Promoting independence, choice, dignity and community participation.
- Maintaining accurate and timely documentation and reporting concerns appropriately.
- Working collaboratively with families, clinicians and other support professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Build a positive, trusting, and consistent relationship through respectful communication and reliability.
- Manage the impacts of PTSD and schizophrenia using trauma-informed and recovery-focused approaches.
- Respond calmly and safely to challenging behaviours, using positive behaviour support strategies and de-escalation techniques where required.
- Assist with daily living tasks, including meal preparation, household duties, personal care (if required), and maintaining a safe and clean home environment.
- Follow all NDIS Practice Standards, workplace policies, and health and safety requirements to ensure high-quality support.Monitor the clients wellbeing and promptly report any changes in her physical or mental health.
- Maintain accurate shift notes, incident reports, and other documentation.
