Job Overview:
We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Cake Decorator Assistant to join our bakery team. In this role, you will assist with cake decorating, prepare a variety of slices and tarts, and support other bakery tasks as needed. The Cake Decorator Assistant will take direction from and report directly to the Lead Decorator. Maintaining a clean and hygienic workspace is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in decorating cakes, cupcakes, and other baked goods according to design specifications or customer requests.
- Prepare and assemble a variety of ingredients, slices, tarts, cakes and other bakery items.
- Collaborate with the Lead Decorator to execute custom cake designs and fulfill orders.
- Take direction from and report to the Lead Decorator for daily tasks and priorities.
- Support general bakery operations, including packaging, stocking, and assisting with production as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, tools, and equipment in compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
- Monitor and replenish decorating supplies and ingredients, notifying management of any shortages.
Qualifications:
- Experience in a similar role, trade qualification will be looked at favorably
- Strong attention to detail and a creative eye for design.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexible and adaptable to assist with a variety of bakery tasks.
- Commitment to maintaining cleanliness and adhering to food safety standards.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to lift and move items up to 10 kilograms.
