The Procurement, Fleet and Stores team sits within the Governance and Risk Directorate and are focused on strengthening procurement capability and probity across the organisation.
In contributing to the overarching vision, the Manager Procurement, Fleet and Stores leads the strategic direction and coordination of Council’s procurement functions. The Manager leads the Procurement and Contracts Team as well as Council’s Stores, and drives the provision of centralised procurement services across Council. This includes procurement planning, development, sourcing, contract and risk management activities, to deliver value for money, meet business needs and align with legislative requirements while maintaining strong governance and probity standards.
The successful applicant will require:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications (or equivalent experience) with extensive expertise across procurement, contract management, budgeting, cost control, and performance frameworks, including strong working knowledge of Local Government legislation and compliance obligations.
- Proven ability to lead procurement strategy, strategic sourcing, policy development, and end to end contract management, ensuring probity, governance, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement aligned to best practice and legislative requirements.
- Demonstrated leadership capability to build high performing teams, manage budgets and reporting, and effectively engage, influence, and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholders while meeting competing priorities.
- Strong analytical, problem solving, negotiation, communication, and reporting skills, with the ability to prepare clear advice and insights to support decision making, alongside high ethical standards and confidentiality.
- Experience within (or strong understanding of) Local Government/public sector procurement frameworks, including contract registers, compliance frameworks, audits.
- Manage end‑to‑end lifecycle of light fleet asset, including procurement, maintenance coordination, performance monitoring, and disposal processes to optimise cost and availability.
- Oversee depot stores and inventory operations, ensuring accurate stock control, efficient storage, and timely availability of parts to support fleet maintenance.
- Implement/maintain systems for fleet and inventory tracking, reporting, and forecasting to support operational efficiency and lifecycle planning.
- Ensure compliance, governance, and cost control across fleet procurement and stores management, including supplier performance and audit requirements.
- Class C drivers licence.

About this role:

- Located at Council's Merrylands office, with occasional travel required across Council worksites, and may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations
Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.
- Grade 17 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $3,511.57 to $4,038.30 per week, plus 12% superannuation
- The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role
