About the team
SafeWork NSW is seeking an experienced Talent Acquisition Manager to establish and lead our Talent Acquisition function. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of talent acquisition within a purposeful organisation, balancing strategic leadership with hands on delivery. Working closely with leaders across the business, you will build trusted partnerships, drive workforce planning and recruitment outcomes, and lead a team dedicated to attracting exceptional talent to SafeWork NSW.

This is a rare opportunity to shape the Talent function from the ground up: refreshing our recruitment processes and templates, partnering with stakeholders across the organisation to design and embed contemporary recruitment practices and strategies, and establishing workforce planning approaches that set SafeWork NSW up for long-term success.
You will lead a team of talent professionals, with a strong focus on building a positive, high performing team culture. You'll balance strategic leadership, setting direction, supporting your team to succeed and driving continuous improvement, with the hands on work of standing up the systems, tools and relationships the function needs to thrive.
Your day-to-day
In this role, you will:

Lead the design, build and continuous improvement of the Talent Acquisition function.

Partner with stakeholders across SafeWork NSW to develop, consult contemporary recruitment and workforce planning practices.

Lead the development of workforce planning strategies and solutions, partnering with business leaders to understand current and future workforce needs.

Lead, coach and develop a team of talent professionals, fostering a positive, collaborative and high performing culture that delivers exceptional recruitment outcomes.

Lead a range of strategic Talent projects including the development of an EVP, recruitment policy, workforce planning tools, and assessment centre strategies.

Get involved in recruitment activity where needed, particularly for complex, senior or hard-to-fill roles.

Develop and report on talent acquisition and workforce planning metrics to inform decision-making and continuous improvement.

Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders, central agencies and external partners.
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

Expertise in talent acquisition, strategic talent projects and some workforce planning experience.

Strong leadership skills to inspire and manage a high-performing team.

The confidence and proven experience partnering with executives, leaders and other Govt agencies

Strong communication, influence, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Experience within NSW Government is preferred given the highly nuanced nature of the work
