About Continuing Care Services and Ward 11
The Continuing Care Division delivers aged care, rehabilitation, community services and specialist clinics across Austin Health's campuses and into the community. Within Aged Care Services, Ward 11 is a 28-bed Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM) ward located at the Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital.
Ward 11 provides comprehensive multidisciplinary care for older adults with complex health needs, focusing on assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and discharge planning. The team is dedicated to promoting independence, enhancing quality of life and supporting patients to achieve the best possible outcomes.
About the role
The Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) will lead Ward 11 and provide strategic and operational leadership to a highly skilled multidisciplinary team. This role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care while fostering a positive team culture, driving continuous improvement initiatives and managing workforce and financial resources effectively.

A regular day will see you:
- Leading and supporting nursing and support staff to deliver exceptional, evidence-based patient care.
- Promoting a positive workplace culture through coaching, mentoring, workforce development and performance management.
- Driving quality, safety and continuous improvement initiatives across the ward.
- Managing staffing, budgets, resources and operational performance to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient outcomes and support innovation and service improvement.
About you
You are an experienced nursing leader who is passionate about delivering high-quality care and creating an environment where staff and patients can thrive. You bring strong clinical expertise, excellent communication skills and a commitment to continuous improvement.
To be successful in this role you’ll bring with you:
- Proven senior nursing leadership experience with the ability to inspire, influence and support high-performing teams.
- Strong clinical experience and a commitment to person-centred, evidence-based care for older people.
- Demonstrated management experience in workforce planning, resource management and budget oversight.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and change management skills.
- A commitment to quality, safety, innovation and continuous improvement in healthcare delivery.
