Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, organise, prepare, and cook food
- Plan and develop menus
- Estimate food requirements, food and labour costs, and order supplies
- Monitor the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
- Liaise with the Head Chef and kitchen and waiting staff on food preparation matters
- Demonstrate cooking techniques and advise on procedures
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes to a high standard that meet dietary requirements
- Ensure strict compliance with hygiene and food safety regulations
- Examining foodstuffs to ensure quality
- Regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment
- Manage food storage, including freezing and preservation
- Portioning food, placing it on plates, and adding gravies, sauces and garnishes
- Assist with staff selection and training where required to other kitchen staff and apprentices
About You:
- Proven experience as a Cook or similar role
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Passion for quality food and continuous improvement
To be successful you must have:
- AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training
OR
- AQF Certificate IV or higher plus one year of relevant work experience
OR
- At least three years of relevant experience in a similar position
