The Dromana Community House - Little Gum Early Learning is seeking a creative leader for our Occassional Childcare which operates four days per week - five hour sessions
We are licenced under the Victorian Children's Services for up to 16 places for children form One years of age to pre kindergarten.
We are seeking a creative person who can lead the team of educators including trainees to develop a progressive leanring plan to meet children's indvidual leanring outcomes.
This short term contract will backfill the Team Leader positon - who is currently on leave.
The role would evovle, on the return of the Team leader, so flexibility, intiative and capacity to embed current early learning educational practice is desired in the suitable candidate

As educational leader to lead the development and implementation of educational programs in the Service.
The primary requirements of the educational leader role are to:
- collaborate with educators and provide progam direction and guidance
- support educators to effectively implement the cycle of planning to enhance programs and practices
- lead the development and implementation of an effective educational program in the Service
- ensure that children’s learning and development are guided by the learning outcomes of the Early Years Learning Framework
Children’s safety, rights and best interests are paramount in all aspects of the Service’s operations, decision-making and functions. The educational leader ensures that child safety and wellbeing take priority over all other considerations, and are embedded within everyday practice, policies and procedures.
Educational Program and Practice key responsibilities:

- facilitates a play-based learning environment and educational program that fosters exploration, curiosity and meaningful engagement for all children, while promoting agency, creativity and problem solving through hands-on, child-led and inquiry-based investigative experiences and projects in accordance with legislative requirements. Oversee educators within the service and mentor, lead and support them to develop an educational program based on their knowledge of each child.
- lead and facilitate the successful planning, implementation and evaluation of an educational program aligned with an approved learning framework (EYLF) to ensure that the educational program meets the learning and developmental outcomes of the approved learning framework and supports children to develop
- ensure alignment with the Service philosophy, values and regulatory requirements while engaging in meaningful consultation with children, families, educators and management. Share children’s progress meaningfully with families and use insights to inform future planning, group activities, and individualised support.
- supervise educators’ documentation, assessment and evaluation of children’s learning and development to ensure that children’s progress is observed, captured and understood. Oversee the maintenance of accurate records of developmental needs, interests, experiences, and participation using a variety of methods, including observations, learning stories, portfolios, photos, and digital documentation, in line with Service policies and legislative requirements.
- stay informed about current early childhood education best practices by engaging with contemporary research, sector trends and innovations in pedagogy and child development. Apply contemporary knowledge to planning, assessment and program delivery, ensuring evidence-based practices aligned with the learning framework. Share knowledge with colleagues to strengthen team practice and ensure the highest quality education and care.
- Lead audits, reviews, self-assessment, and planning processes, using critical reflection and observations to drive continuous improvement in quality, safety and learning outcomes.
- uphold the rights of all children and support educators in developing ongoing programs tailored to individual needs, strengths, and interests. Promote a positive, ethical and well-organised environment that maintains high standards of care, learning and compliance with early childhood education legislation. Champion inclusive practices by creating an environment where all children, regardless of ability, background, culture, or language, feel welcomed, supported and valued.
Pay: $40.00 – $45.00 per hour
