As a Senior Venue Technician at the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality events that attract audiences from across the region and beyond. Hosting approximately 150 events each year, the venue brings together a diverse range of performances, productions and functions with many visitors travelling to Dubbo specifically to experience the array of performances, community celebrations, business events, and educational opportunities facilitated at the venue.
In this hands-on role, you’ll help bring performances to life by delivering technical excellence across audio, lighting, staging and vision. You’ll work closely with clients, performers and the internal team to create seamless, professional experiences, while also contributing to the ongoing growth and capability of the venue.
With no two events the same, you’ll build your expertise across a wide variety of productions, take on leadership responsibilities and continue to grow your career in a dynamic and creative environment.
You'll find growth through:
Interpreting technical requirements and coordinating resources for a wide range of productions and events
Setting up and operating audio, lighting, staging and vision systems to deliver high-quality event outcomes
Working closely with clients and performers to bring their vision to life within venue capabilities
Providing leadership, guidance and support to casual staff and building a strong team culture
Contributing to maintenance planning and continuous improvement of technical equipment and systems
What you'll bring
To thrive in this role, you will need:
Solid experience, ability to operate to a high level of competency, computerised lighting, audio, AV and counterweight flying systems
Working at Heights qualification, or willingness to obtain.
High Risk Work Licence Rigging and dogging qualifications, or willingness to obtain.
Foundation Safety for Live Events & Operate Flying Systems, or willingness to obtain.
General Construction Induction Card (White card)
Experience with and knowledge of, Work Health and Safety (WHS), Risk Management, emergency evacuation procedures related to the operations of a public function area / live theatre venue
Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings
We would also love you to have:
- Diploma or equivalent qualifications in technical/production/project management of events/performing arts in a multi-purpose venue, or an equivalent combination of demonstrated hands-on experience and industry knowledge.

This position offers an attractive annual salary ranging from $76,485 to $88,889
