About the position
The Support Workers will support individuals living with complex trauma and psychosocial challenges at our SIL Home. Your support will be tailored to align with each participant's individual support plan.
Working with external care teams and families, the role is responsible for providing high-quality, responsive, and person-centred support to assist participants in enhancing their everyday living skills, gaining access and participation in the community to achieve their goals, enhance their quality of life and physical and mental health.
The role

Support participants with their daily living tasks: Hygiene prompting, support with meal preparation and maintaining their living space

Supporting participants to attend appointments and other community access

Use positive behaviour support to implement approved restrictive practices as per the NDIS guidelines

Deliver support by individualised support plans to assist participants'’ wellbeing
-
Support participants to make decisions for themselves within their assessed capacity
-
Using your creativity to think outside of the box when dealing with complex situations
About you
-
Qualification in mental health, psychology, social work, Drugs and Alcohol, or related fields (desirable).

Experience working with mental health system is highly regarded.

Ability to empower lives through Trauma Informed Practice

Ability to work with Drug and Alcohol challenged participants

Two years of experience working with people with complex mental illnesses, providing behavourial/trauma informed support
-
A clear understanding of professional boundaries and restrictive practices
-
Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate as part of a diverse team and work autonomously.

Understand the challenges people with complex mental health and people from marginalised communities face
-
Experience in supporting people deemed as having significant complexity in their lives.
