We are seeking a motivated law graduate or final-year law student to join our team as a Legal Assistant / Paralegal. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain broad practical experience across multiple areas of law while working towards admission, with genuine exposure to file management, client contact, and court/settlement processes.
This role suits candidates who are:
- Currently completing their law degree (final year) or have recently graduated
- Seeking an internship, clerkship, or graduate paralegal position as a pathway toward Practical Legal Training (PLT) and admission
- Available to commit to 25 hours per week on an ongoing basis
Key Responsibilities
Conveyancing
- Assist with preparation of contracts for sale, section 149 certificates, and other pre-exchange documentation
- Liaise with banks, brokers, and other parties' solicitors regarding settlements
- Prepare settlement statements and attend to PEXA lodgements (training provided)
- Manage file diaries and key dates (cooling-off, finance, settlement)
Commercial Law
- Assist with drafting and reviewing leases, heads of agreement, and business sale contracts
- Conduct company and title searches (ASIC, land title searches)
- Support due diligence processes for commercial transactions
Criminal Law (summary matters)
- Assist with preparation of court documents, briefs, and correspondence with the DPP/prosecution
- Liaise with clients regarding court dates and bail conditions
- Attend Local Court with supervising solicitor (where appropriate)
Family Law
- Assist with preparation of consent orders, initiating applications, and financial statements
- Support clients through parenting and property matter documentation
- Liaise with the Family Court/Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia registries
Wills & Estates
- Assist with drafting wills, powers of attorney, and enduring guardianship documents
- Support probate and letters of administration applications
- Liaise with executors, beneficiaries, and the Supreme Court Probate Registry
General
- Open and manage files, including trust accounting entries under supervision
- Draft correspondence, file notes, and basic court/tribunal documents
Pay: $25.00 – $27.00 per hour
