About CrowdCoder
CrowdCoder operates Australia's clinical coding workforce platform. Hospitals across the country depend on accurate clinical coding to be funded correctly and to report quality outcomes - and there aren't enough qualified coders to do the work. We solve that by combining a credentialled, examined workforce with AI that augments rather than replaces them.
The role
We're hiring a senior engineer to take ownership of the platform. You'll inherit a working product with real customers, and you'll be the person who decides how it evolves.
You'll work directly with our CEO and COO, and - critically - alongside qualified clinical coders who are the domain authority on what the software must do. The engineers who succeed here are the ones who treat clinical expertise as a design input, not an obstacle.
What you'll actually be doing
- Owning the architecture, security posture and delivery of CrowdCoder's platform end to end
- Building AI-assisted features
- Designing systems that handle identifiable health information under the Australian Privacy Act, including de-identification and redaction pipelines that must satisfy enterprise hospital security review
What we're looking for Essential
- 6+ years building and shipping production software, with genuine full-stack depth
- What you’ll find in the codebase: c#/.NET 10 Blazor, Microsoft SQL Server, AWS stack, Pulumi, GitHub / GH Actions CI/CD.
- What we expect from you: Familiarity / expertise with all of the above, and with modern coding tools like Cursor / Antigravity / Claude Code, which will help get you up to speed on the system in no time.
- Demonstrated ownership of a system in production: you've been the person who gets called, and you've built things so that call comes less often
- Practical experience building with LLMs beyond prototypes - you understand evaluation, prompt and retrieval design, cost and latency trade-offs, and where these systems fail
- Sound judgement on data security and access control, and the discipline that working with sensitive data demands
- Ability to work directly with non-technical domain experts and translate their expertise into product decisions — this is genuinely half the job
Highly regarded
- Experience in healthtech, health information management, or another regulated data environment
- Exposure to Australian health data standards, HL7/FHIR, or hospital PAS/EMR integration
- Familiarity with clinical NLP tooling
- Experience passing enterprise security and privacy reviews
- Comfort in an early-stage company where the roadmap moves and the org chart is short
Pay: $150,000.00 – $185,000.00 per year
