The Salvation Army (Salvos) Norwest Corps is a Christian Church in the heart of Norwest. As a Community Connections Worker, this is your opportunity to develop and deliver meaningful community programs that connect people with Norwest Salvos and support The Salvation Army’s mission.
Reporting to the Corps Officer, this is a permanent, part time role, offering 15 hours per week, located in Norwest, NSW.
Build strong relationships with vulnerable community members, providing support, encouragement, and practical assistance.
Coordinate emergency relief services and connect people with essential aid and community resources.
Facilitate community programs and pathways that empower individuals and families in crisis.
Develop effective referral partnerships with Salvation Army services and external community organisations.
Support fundraising initiatives, including the Red Shield Appeal, to strengthen local mission impact.
Provide responsive administration and community engagement support, managing enquiries and service referrals.
Tertiary qualifications in Community Services/Social Work – minimum certificate level, or relevant experience
Experience in community engagement on behalf of a religious institution or not-for-profit organization.
Demonstrated experience in developing and running community-based activities.
Demonstrated ability to provide a high level of customer service.
Demonstrated ability to understand and communicate with community partners and community members
Understanding of and commitment to the mission and values of The Salvation Army
A Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check is required
Current, Valid Driver’s Licence
Working With Children Check
Availability to work 1 day per week from 3 x TSA locations to ensure appropriate community support/ coverage
Salary packaging up to $15,900 tax free + $2,650 meal entertainment benefit.
Generous Paid Parental leave for primary (12 weeks) & secondary carers, Purchased Leave Scheme (up to 8 weeks) and 5 days paid leave per year to experience working in other TSA programs or activities.
