The Welder Fabricator is responsible for both welding and fabricating metal components and structures according to technical specifications. This role combines hands-on welding skills with the ability to measure, cut, assemble, and shape metal parts. Welder Fabricators play a key role in manufacturing, construction, and repair projects, ensuring that finished products meet quality, safety, and design requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fabricate metal components using cutting, bending, and shaping techniques
- Perform welding using MIG, TIG, Stick, or other appropriate methods
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and technical specifications
- Measure and mark materials for cutting and assembly
- Assemble and fit parts to ensure proper alignment and structural integrity
- Inspect finished welds and fabricated components for quality and accuracy
- Operate fabrication equipment such as press brakes, grinders, and cutting tools
- Maintain and service welding and fabrication equipment
- Follow workplace health, safety, and environmental procedures
- Work collaboratively with engineers, supervisors, and other trades
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Relevant trade qualification in welding, fabrication, or metalwork
- Proven experience in both welding and fabrication work
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and plans
- Strong understanding of welding techniques and fabrication processes
- Good mathematical and measurement skills
- High attention to detail and workmanship quality
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in industries such as manufacturing, construction, or heavy engineering
- Additional certifications in specific welding processes or materials
- Knowledge of different metals including steel, stainless steel, and aluminum
Working Conditions:
- Workshop and/or on-site environments
- Exposure to heat, noise, fumes, and heavy machinery
- May require lifting heavy materials and working in various positions
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory
Pay: $35.00 – $38.00 per hour
