About the Role
The Health and Safety Business Partner provides strategic and operational health and safety leadership across operations and functional areas, partnering with leaders and frontline teams. The role will foster a proactive safety culture while strengthening critical risk management and organisational capabilities through ownership and influence across the organisation.
You will support a portfolio across the Burdekin region balancing operational priorities with strategic health and safety initiatives to drive positive business outcomes.
Role Responsibilities
- Provide practical advice, guidance and coaching to employees, supervisors and managers on health and safety procedures, standards, legislative requirements and safe work practices.
- Coach and support operational leaders to lead meaningful safety conversations, toolbox talks and workforce engagement activities that strengthen risk awareness and safety ownership.
- Support behavioural safety initiatives and visible field leadership activities.
- Promote a proactive reporting culture and continuous improvement mindset.
- Facilitate high-quality incident investigations
- Support contractor safety management processes including onboarding, assurance and performance monitoring.
About you
We are looking for someone who brings:
Essential
- Relevant qualifications in Work Health and Safety
- Strong communication and relationship building skills, with the ability to influence and coach across all levels of the business
- Demonstrated experience in incident investigation methodologies (ICAM)
- Strong understanding of WHS legislation, risk management and critical risk controls
- Considerable experience in a safety role within manufacturing, processing or heavy industry
Desirable
- Sugar industry experience
- Lead Auditor qualification
- Experience with Power BI or Tableau
