Support Work in the Home
Smarter Connections is seeking experienced, reliable and compassionate Support Workers to join the team of a 57-year-old woman in Bayswater North who is preparing to return home following an extended hospital stay.
Client has a progressive neurological condition and Temporal Lobe Epilepsy and has complex physical support needs. She is wheelchair dependent and requires assistance with personal care and activities of daily living.
The role includes:
- Personal care, showering, dressing and continence support
- Hoist and sling transfers
- 2:1 support for transfers
- Pressure care and repositioning
- Following epilepsy/seizure management procedures
- Assistance with daily routines and activities
- Working closely and consistently with the wider support team
We are looking for workers who are patient, calm, caring, reliable and confident with complex care. Previous experience with hoists, manual handling, epilepsy and high physical support needs is highly regarded.
Training and handover relating specifically to Clients needs and equipment will be provided.
Various shifts available across mornings, afternoons, nights and inactive sleepovers.
Most importantly, we are looking for workers who can provide consistent and reliable ongoing support, as Client cannot be left without support and is building a team around her for her return home.
Essential / Preferred Requirements:
- Certificate III or IV in Disability / Individual Support (preferred)
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Current First Aid & CPR
- Working with Children Check (Employee)
- Current driver’s Licence & reliable vehicle
- Experience supporting high physical needs (highly regarded)
- Confidence with manual handling & hoist use (training available)
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Availability to work a flexible but consistent roster, including weekends and/or inactive overnights
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a consistent, professional support team.
- Willingness to learn and develop specialist skills through ongoing training.
- Respect for the participant's home, personal values, family culture, and background, including an appreciation of the family's connection to military and policing service.
