We are currently recruiting a Senior Payroll Bookkeeper for our PT Ignite Team at our Toowoomba office. This role will primarily specialise in delivering end-to-end payroll services for our clients, while also supporting broader management accounting and compliance needs across the portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
Senior Payroll Bookkeeper is responsible for managing the delivery of client payroll and related compliance obligations (including PAYG withholding, superannuation and payroll tax where applicable), under the direction and supervision of the Senior Client Manager. The role ensures a client-centric approach where expectations are met, deadlines are achieved and advice is delivered clearly and accurately.
- Client payroll management including managing end-to-end payroll for a portfolio of clients, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and positive employee pay experience
- Maintain payroll set-ups and ongoing changes (pay items, allowances, deductions, leave accruals, termination payments, back pays and bonuses)
- Maintaining knowledge over the Modern Award and Fair Work requirements and being able to apply these awards to practical situations (understanding that the specific award knowledge will need to be developed)
- Payroll compliance reviews and support, including (as applicable) STP, PAYG withholding, superannuation and payroll tax
- Process and/or review superannuation obligations and resolve exceptions
- Review and support IAS/PAYGW obligations that relate to payroll
- EOFY payroll and related reconciliations, including year-end checks and client readiness support
- Respond to client and internal team queries in a timely, professional manner
- Partner with clients to improve and integrate processes, systems and people (finance and non-finance)
- Attend to clients’ needs on-site as required
What you’ll need to succeed:
- Demonstrated experience managing end-to-end payroll for multiple clients, with strong knowledge of Australian payroll obligations (PAYG withholding, superannuation and payroll tax where applicable)
- Exceptional customer service and the ability to build trusted client relationships
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- High attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality and compliance
