Position: Client Consultation Support Volunteer (Survey & Outreach)
Program Area: Community Engagement
Purpose / Objective: The Annual Client Consultation is a key initiative at the Asylum Seekers Centre (ASC), providing an opportunity for people seeking asylum to share their experiences, needs, and ideas. Insights from the consultation directly inform service improvements, program design, and advocacy efforts.
Support the delivery of the annual client consultation by helping clients understand and complete the survey, ensuring participation is inclusive and accessible.
Reports to: Community Engagement Specialist
Commitment Period: Minimum 2 months
Days and hours required per week: May–June 2026, 1 day per week (Monday/Wednesday), 4 hours per day
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Clearly explain the purpose of the consultation using simple, accessible language
- Support clients to complete surveys (in-person and/or via phone)
- Assist with outreach and encouraging participation across programs
- Support interviews and focus groups (set-up, welcoming participants, note-taking)
- Help create a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for clients
- Identify and share emerging feedback or participation barriers with staff
Selection Criteria:
- Experience in working with people from various backgrounds and cultures
- Experience in community engagement, social research, or facilitation
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Confidence supporting group discussions or one-on-one conversations
- Culturally sensitive and non-judgmental approach
- Additional community languages highly valued
- Ability to work collaboratively with other staff and volunteers
- Flexibility and willingness to take on extra tasks as appropriate
- Ability to adhere to policies concerning code of conduct, boundaries and confidentiality

- Support a child safe organisation by undertaking screening for suitability to work with children and vulnerable people and to comply with relevant state/territory legislative requirements and willing to provide NSW police check if requested
