About the role
This is a hands-on, full-shift role in the heart of a working bakery. You'll be part of the cleaning team, keeping the bakery clean and running smoothly across an 8-hour shift. The core of the job is washing and sanitising our bread crates, tubs and baking trays so the bakers always have clean equipment ready to go, and keeping the floors clean throughout the shift, not just at the end of the day. On busy days you'll roll up your sleeves and help the bakers with production.
We're a growing bakery, and this role is a real entry point into it. If you show reliability, a good attitude and an interest in baking, there is a clear path to more responsibility, more hours and a move into production and baking roles at Woodfrog.
What you'll be doing
- Washing, sanitising and stacking bread crates, dough tubs and baking trays continuously throughout the shift so the bakers are never waiting on equipment
- Keeping bakery floors swept, mopped and free of flour, dough and spills at all times during production
- Cleaning and sanitising benches, mixers, ovens and equipment in line with food-safety standards
- Emptying bins, managing waste and recycling, and keeping the bin area tidy
- Cleaning staff areas, toilets and the customer area as required
- Assisting the bakers with production tasks on busy days, such as weighing, shaping, tray-up, packing and moving product
- Following our cleaning checklists and the safe use of chemicals
- Reporting maintenance issues, pest signs or safety hazards to the manager
What we're looking for
- Previous cleaning or kitchen-hand experience, ideally in a bakery, commercial kitchen or hospitality setting (full training provided for the right attitude)
- A good understanding of hygiene and food-safety practices
- Reliability and punctuality – the bakers depend on you being there
- Good physical fitness – you'll be on your feet for a full 8-hour shift, bending, lifting and moving crates and trays of up to 15 kg
- Someone who works at pace, stays busy without being asked, and takes pride in a job well done
- A team player who's happy to jump in and help wherever needed
- Interest in baking and a desire to learn and grow with the business
- Availability for early mornings, evenings and weekends
- The right to work in Australia
Nice to have
- Food Handling or Food Safety Supervisor certificate
- Experience in a bakery or food-production environment
What we offer
- Award wages with casual loading and penalty rates
- Consistent 8-hour shifts with a friendly, supportive team
- Full training and hands-on exposure to artisan baking
- A real pathway to growth into production and baking roles as the bakery expands
