People’s Coffee is a growing specialty coffee group with multiple bustling espresso bars across the Melbourne CBD, serving people who know great coffee and great food. We’re looking for an experienced Retail Manager to lead our flagship CBD store at 80 Collins and help us deliver fast, consistent service to city workers and locals, all day, every day.About the role
As Retail Manager at People’s Coffee CBD, you will:
- Run the day-to-day operations of a high-volume espresso bar in the heart of the city, ensuring fast, efficient and friendly service throughout the peak commuter and lunch rushes.
- Lead, coach and develop a tight-knit team of baristas and floor staff, including recruitment, onboarding, training and performance conversations.
- Own the customer experience: greet regulars by name, respond to feedback on the spot and maintain a welcoming “for the people” vibe.
- Manage rosters and labour to match CBD trading patterns while hitting sales and profitability targets.
- Oversee ordering, stock control and waste, working closely with our kitchen, bakery and coffee roasting partners.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, WHS and company standards, keeping the venue clean, safe and presentation-ready at all times.
About you
You will thrive in this role if you:
- Have proven experience managing a café, espresso bar or retail store, ideally in a CBD or other high-traffic environment.
- Are genuinely passionate about specialty coffee and quality food, and love being on the tools and on the floor during service.
- Are calm and organised under pressure, can think one step ahead and enjoy the pace of a busy city café.
- Are commercially aware, comfortable working with budgets, wage costs and daily/weekly sales targets.
- Communicate clearly, give feedback well and know how to build a positive, accountable team culture.
