Key Accountabilities:
Utilise knowledge of the relevant legislation to ensure information requirements of Tribunal panels and parties to proceedings are met, including attention to detail in the preparation of documentation for each matter in relation to a hearing, and the distribution of hearing material as required.
Liaise and negotiate with authorised mental health service staff, clinicians, and legal practitioners, to ensure all practical requirements for conducting tribunal hearings are met, including the availability of written evidence, appearance of witnesses, arrangements for special needs of participants (eg. interpreter services, cultural adviser, videoconference linkups, teleconference).
Liaise and negotiate with private psychiatrists to ensure all practical requirements for Tribunal Ordered Examinations are met including examination times, documentation and verbal evidence to be provided for hearings.
Role Fit
The essential requirements for this role are:
Demonstrated knowledge, or the ability to acquire knowledge, of the Mental Health Act 2016 and the Forensic Disability Act 2011, particularly the provisions and requirements relating to the operation and functions of the Mental Health Review Tribunal.
Demonstrated initiative and personal management skills, including the ability to balance competing demands and prioritise workloads to meet organisational and legislative requirements.
Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to consult, negotiate and problem solve with a broad range of stakeholders and the ability to develop operational guidelines and procedures.
