We’re seeking a motivated Water Service Operator to support the maintenance of council’s treated and raw water reticulation networks and infrastructure. If you enjoy outdoor work and problem-solving, this could be the role for you.
This position helps ensure water supplied to the residents of Bathurst meets health requirements, environmental standards, and community expectations.
The Water Service Operator works as part of a team that operates and maintains Council’s treated and raw water reticulation networks. The focus of the role is to inspect, maintain and operate valves and hydrants as part of planned maintenance, planned works, emergency works, and water quality management.
The successful applicant will be able to work in a team environment while carrying out a variety of tasks.

- Sound knowledge in the operation and maintenance of a reticulation network, including valves and hydrants
- Sound understanding of water hydraulics
- Ability to work on a rotating on-call roster and outside ordinary hours when required
- Sound Work Health and Safety Awareness and Understanding
- Current NSW Driver licence minimum Class C
- WHS Construction Induction (White Card)
- Sound knowledge in the metric system of measurement
- Experience in the utilisation of small plant used in the construction industry
- Proven ability to lead a small team
- Certificate III in Water Operations (or an ability to obtain within 12 months)

Salary: $1,237.70 to $1,300.25 per week + 12% superannuation
Position Status: Permanent – Full-time
Hours of work: 38 hours per week with an RDO every second week and the ability to work on a rotating on-call roster outside of ordinary hours.
