Disability Support Worker – After-School Support for 11-Year-Old
Looking for a support role where personality, connection and the right match really matter?
Anchor & Aim Support Services is seeking a warm, reliable female support worker in her 20s to support an 11-year-old participant.
We are looking for someone who can build a positive, trusted “big sister” style connection and genuinely enjoys the interests, energy and personality of tweens and young people.
This is not just about completing tasks. The right person will help create a safe, encouraging environment where the participant can build confidence, independence and enjoy being herself.
The role may include:
- School pick-ups
- Community access and participation
- Home-based support
- Supporting confidence, independence and everyday life skills
- Joining in with creative, social and age-appropriate activities
- Providing calm, respectful and encouraging one-to-one support
Availability we are looking for:
- Monday: After school
- Tuesday: After school
- Wednesday: After school
- Friday: After school
- Weekends: Occasional availability welcomed
Shifts will generally be offered on a weekly or fortnightly basis.
You do not need to be available every listed afternoon. Please let us know which days genuinely work for you.
About You:
We are looking for someone who is:
- Female and in her 20s, in line with the participant’s stated preference
- Strong English communication skills, as requested by the participant.
- Neurodiversity-affirming
- LGBTQIA+ / queer-friendly
- Warm, patient, engaging and dependable
- Comfortable building rapport with an 11-year-old
- Interested in creative and age-appropriate activities
- Comfortable around chickens inside the home
- A confident driver with a full driver’s licence
- Able to complete school pick-ups using a reliable and appropriately insured vehicle
Previous experience supporting autistic or otherwise neurodivergent children is strongly preferred.
What you’ll need:
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
- Current Employee Working with Children Check
- Current First Aid and CPR
- Australian working-rights evidence
- Full driver’s licence
- Current vehicle registration
- Appropriate vehicle insurance
- Two professional references
