The Role:
As a Disability Support Worker with Ayul Community Care, you'll play a vital role in providing high-quality, person-centered care to our participants, enabling them to achieve their individual goals and live as independently as possible. Our support workers assist individuals with physical disabilities, mental health challenges, and intellectual disabilities in their homes and the community.
Criteria and Skills:
- Female applicants are preferred by the participant.
- Sri Lankan Background - cooking taditional meals
- Clinical background - preferred
- comfortable with personal care (assistance with toileting - transfer to and from wheelchair to toilet)
- Training will be provided.
- Excellent work ethic, strong oral and written communication skills (e.g., shift notes and form completion).
- Empathy and a person-centered approach in supporting participants, treating them as you would your own family members.
- Preferred but not necessary background in support work, nursing, or experience supporting NDIS participants with physical, intellectual, and mental health disabilities is advantageous.
Essential Requirements:
- Willingness to travel around Bella Vista NSW
- Ability to provide Community access (foldable wheelchair used), provide social company for participant, take her for walk around her home.
- Ownership of an insured vehicle, with readiness to use it for participant support.
- Preferred but not essential: some experience in disability, mental health, or aged care.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., Certificate III or IV in Disability, Aged Care, or Individual Support) are highly prioritised.
