Seven Roofing Pty Ltd is a Melbourne-based roofing and construction company providing roof repairs, restorations, replacements, guttering and commercial roofing services across Melbourne.
As our business continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Carpenter to join our team. This is a hands-on role involving roof framing, structural timber repairs and general carpentry work connected with residential and commercial roofing projects.
About the role
As a Carpenter, you will work across multiple sites throughout Melbourne. Your main responsibilities will include constructing, installing, repairing and replacing timber roof structures and other building components required for roofing projects.
Your duties will include:
- Reading and interpreting building plans, drawings and specifications to determine measurements, materials and installation requirements
- Measuring, marking, cutting, shaping and assembling timber, plywood and other construction materials
- Constructing and installing roof framing, rafters, trusses, battens and other structural timber components
- Inspecting existing roof structures and identifying damaged or deteriorated timber requiring repair or replacement
- Repairing and replacing timber roof framing during roof restoration and replacement projects
- Installing fascia boards, bargeboards, roof sheathing, wall framing and related carpentry components
- Erecting and repairing timber frameworks and ensuring structures are level, square, properly aligned and securely fixed
- Preparing roof structures before the installation of tiles, metal roofing, cladding, guttering and associated roofing materials
- Coordinating with roofers, roof plumbers and other tradespeople to complete projects safely and efficiently
- Selecting suitable materials and estimating the quantities required for each job
- Operating hand tools, power tools and carpentry equipment safely
- Inspecting completed work and carrying out adjustments or repairs where required
- Following building plans, workplace safety procedures, building codes and relevant industry standards
- Maintaining tools, equipment and a clean and safe work area
About you
We are looking for someone reliable, practical and comfortable working independently as well as part of a team.
To be suitable for this position, you should have:
- At least two years of relevant hands-on experience in carpentry, roof framing or building construction, with three years preferred
- Strong experience in timber framing, structural repairs and roofing-related carpentry
- Good ability to read plans, take accurate measurements and complete work to a high standard
- Sound knowledge of construction methods, workplace safety requirements and relevant building standards
- Confidence using carpentry hand tools, power tools and machinery
- The physical ability and confidence to work safely at heights and in outdoor conditions
- A current White Card
- A current driver licence and a reliable vehicle, as you will need to travel between multiple project sites across Melbourne
- Your own basic tools and equipment
- Good communication, time-management and problem-solving skills
- A strong commitment to quality workmanship, reliability and workplace safety
- A Certificate III in Carpentry or an equivalent trade qualification would be highly regarded but is not essential if you have sufficient relevant industry experience.
