Job Title: VCE English, Literature, English Language & Biology Tutor
Location: Online and/or in-person

Hours: 12-14 hours per week to start, based on availability
Pay: Starting from $25.22 per hour
Availability Required: Monday to Friday, 4:00pm–9:00pm, and Saturdays, 10:00am–4:00pm, with potential meetings between 2:00pm–4:00pm on weekdays.
We are looking for a passionate and reliable tutor who can support students in one or more of the following subjects: English, English Literature, English Language, and Biology.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys teaching, creating educational resources, working with students one-on-one, and collaborating with a team to build high-quality learning programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tutor students in one or more subjects, including English, English Literature, English Language, and Biology.
- Be available to teach during after-school hours, mainly between 4:00pm–9:00pm, Monday to Friday and Saturdays 10:00am-4:00pm.
- Prepare and plan catered one-on-one lessons based on each student’s needs, goals, and ability level.
- Read, study, and analyse novels, texts, and course material to support English-based lessons.
- Create English PowerPoints, exercises, worksheets, and graded tasks.
- Mark student work and provide clear, constructive feedback.
- Work closely with other tutors to help build courses, class material, and learning programs.
- Attend online or in-person meetings when required, usually between 10:00am–12:00pm on weekdays.
- Inspire, motivate, and encourage students to improve their confidence and academic performance.
- Take on new students for trial lessons when available.
About You:
The ideal candidate will be organised, confident, and passionate about education. You should be able to explain concepts clearly, support students with patience, and take initiative when preparing lessons and resources.
Requirements:
- Strong knowledge in at least one of the following areas: English, English Literature, English Language, and/or Biology.
- Ability to prepare lessons and resources independently.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Reliable availability during after-school hours.
- Willingness to work in a team and contribute to course development.
- Ability to motivate students and build strong learning relationships.
- Prior tutoring or teaching experience is preferred but not essential.
