As a Teacher of the Deaf, you will support teachers to meet the learning needs of students across subjects and life skills.
In consultation with the school leadership team, you will lead the following activities and deliver the following key tasks:
- Plan and deliver Educational Interpreter (EI) and Auslan Language Models (ALM) capacity building.
- Maintain records in accordance with One School and ISHS policy and processes, including Personalised Learning and NCCD.
- Actively communicate with families, stakeholder and professionals to support student inclusion and reasonable adjustments, including facilitating teacher communication with parents and care givers.
- Plan and deliver tutorial support for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
- Assist with planning, preparation and delivery of effective learning and teaching programs for identified students, including Individual Curriculum Plans and QCIA.
- Provide support in identifying patterns of achievement and selecting intervention strategies for underachieving students, including students with learning disabilities.
- In cooperation with the classroom teacher, teach whole classes, small groups and individuals.
- Provide support and advice on the teaching of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students with diverse learning needs.
- Identify interpreter requirements.
- Work collaboratively with other specialists to coordinate services.
