Community Living Care is seeking compassionate, reliable and experienced Female Disability Support Workers to join our team in a 24-hour Supported Independent Living (SIL) home in Kallangur, Queensland.
This casual position involves supporting two female NDIS participants in a warm, person-centred environment. The role includes active support during the day and sleepover shifts overnight, ensuring participants receive high-quality care and assistance to achieve their goals and maintain their independence.
About the Role
As a Disability Support Worker, you will provide individualised support and promote choice, dignity and community inclusion. You will work collaboratively with participants, families and allied health professionals to deliver supports in accordance with NDIS principles and Community Living Care policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing personal care and assistance with activities of daily living.
- Supporting participants with household tasks including meal preparation, cleaning and laundry.
- Assisting with medication administration in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Supporting participants to access the community and participate in recreational activities.
- Maintaining accurate progress notes and documentation.
- Implementing behaviour support strategies and following care plans.
- Supporting emotional wellbeing and building positive relationships.
- Promoting independence, choice and social inclusion.
- Providing overnight sleepover support and responding appropriately to participant needs.
Essential Requirements
- Female applicants only (This is a genuine occupational requirement under Section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld), due to the personal care needs and preferences of the participants).
- Previous experience working within the disability sector.
- Sound understanding of person-centred practice and the NDIS framework.
- Certificate III or Certificate IV in Individual Support, Disability, Aged Care, Community Services or equivalent (preferred).
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (Yellow Card).
- Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check) or willingness to obtain.
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
- Current Medication Administration competency (desirable).
- Current Driver's Licence and reliable, insured vehicle.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, public holidays and sleepover shifts.
