Primary objective
Provide specialist advice and services in relation to the procurement, installation, management, and maintenance of the
Government’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) network.
Context statement
ICT Services provides ICT hardware and software services to client agencies to meet business requirements, within this ICT Security
Services provides frameworks and services to secure the NT Government’s digital environment and ensure ICT infrastructure is
provided in accordance with contracted service levels.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide specialist services and advice as directed by the NT Government network manager in relation to the procurement,
installation, management and maintenance of the NT Government’s ICT network and collaboration environment.
2. Diagnose and resolve complex technical problems in consultation with clients, staff, external service providers and vendors.
Liaise with vendors to determine solutions for problems.
3. Identify new ways of operating to improve efficiency and cost effectiveness and client service. Identify, develop, recommend
and direct services providers to implement improvements in consultation with all stakeholders.
4. Provide advice to and perform tasks on projects relating to the Government’s ICT network and collaboration environment.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Ability to provide specialist advice and services in relation to the procurement, installation, management and maintenance of
the Government’s ICT network and collaboration infrastructure.
2. High level analytical and problem solving skills using logical and lateral thinking and persistence to implement alternative
solutions to overcome obstacles.
3. In depth knowledge and expertise in network management and network monitoring tools.
4. In depth knowledge of collaboration environments (configuration/support/monitoring)
5. Working knowledge and/or formal training in Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) relating to IT Service
Management including Incident management, request fulfilment and change management.
6. Sound interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.
7. Demonstrated work ethic and attitude which emulates DCDD values of Commitment to service, Innovation, Ethical practice,
Accountability, Impartiality, Diversity and Respect.
Desirable
1. Tertiary or technical qualifications in an Information Technology related discipline.
2. Demonstrated experience working in a public sector environment or similar large organisation.
3. Cisco certification and/or formal training with Cisco network Technology.
4. Certification or training in other network technology (e.g. Fortinet/Palo Alto)
5. Certification or training in collaboration environments (e.g. MS Teams/Cisco VC)
