The JBS Dinmore Processing Plant is the largest beef facility in the southern hemisphere. Located near Ipswich, in south east Queensland, the facility has a daily production ability of 3,400 cattle and employs approximately 1,500 people. Cattle are sourced from the finest cattle producing regions to produce a diverse range of pasture fed and grain beef products, from commodity to premium. The renowned AMH brand, the award-winning Yardstick, the highly marbled grain fed Pure Prime and our state’s brand, Queenslander Beef and more are all produced at Dinmore.
About the Role
The JBS Dinmore Plant is currently recruiting a qualified Fitter and Turner to join the team. This is a full-time position with annual salary more than $85,000 to $100,000 plus superannuation.
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, your key responsibilities will include:
- Play an active role in the identification and elimination of hazards in the workplace;
- Exercises trade skills and safe work practices relevant to the specific requirements of JBS;
- Take responsibility for the completion of all allocated maintenance tasks on machines and equipment;
- Work under limited supervision either individually or in a team environment;
- Liaise with the Maintenance Supervisor to understand work commitments and priorities, for the generation and issue of job instructions, work orders, technical information and other reports relating
- to tasks required to be performed;
- Communicate with maintenance team members, supervisors and production staff on breakdowns and outstanding work;
- Identify and propose equipment improvement opportunities;
- Be able to refer to plant and equipment documentation to gain a higher level of understanding of the plant equipment.
- Be willing to take responsibility for small projects and see them through to completion.
- Preparing mechanical equipment to aid automation of machinery
- Ensure parts are to design specifications as required by organisation
- Ensuring accuracy of design and part specification as required
- Diagnosing Faulty parts and undertaking repairs of faulty components as required
- Working with Maintenance Team to make recommendations and provide support as required
- To ensure maximum equipment up time is achieved by providing effective and efficient mechanical preventative and breakdown maintenance.
- Engage in making, fitting or repairing mechanical
- machines, instruments or appliances.
- Ensure that all mechanical work is carried out to meet the Company safety and housekeeping requirements and conforms to all relevant regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to identify faults with the ability to
- troubleshoot and rectify problems
- Utilising tools competently for turning, boring, milling, planing, shaping, slotting, grinding or drilling metal
About you:
Mechanical trade qualifications and post-trade experience
Experience in maintenance/repair in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Thorough understanding of maintenance work management practices
Understanding of work planning and scheduling procedures
Experience gained from a large heavy industry organization
Attention to detail and a sense of urgency
Effective and efficient problem-solving skills
Flexibility to work 12-hour shifts (days/nights) including a possible 24/7 roster in the future
