About us:
The Cairns and Hinterland Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Services is responsible for delivering mental health and AOD services throughout the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service and for supporting other mental health and AOD services in the surrounding Hospital and Health Services of Cape York, Torres Strait Northern Peninsula Area. Its primary objective is to ensure access to a comprehensive range of treatment and support services, clinical treatment, rehabilitation, disability support, as well as early intervention, and mental health prevention and promotion.

About your opportunity:
In this position you will....
Provide leadership and operational decision-making in the absence of the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM).
Contribute expert nursing assessment and advice to achieve service quality improvement and research activities, including nursing practice review, policy and standard development within a risk management framework.
Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to optimise care pathways and service integration.
Use contemporary information, research, evidence, personal knowledge and experience to conduct and guide clinical research and quality initiatives to inform practice change and decision making within the MH-HITH service.
