Role purpose:
The HSU is looking for a Membership Administration Officer to join our Membership Administration Division.
The Membership Administration Officer supports the administration of the HSU’s membership systems and processes, ensuring member records, enquiries and transactions are managed accurately throughout the membership lifecycle.
The role also provides reception and general office support as required, ensuring visitors receive a professional and welcoming first point of contact.
This is a full-time position based at our Sydney CBD Head Office and reports to the Membership Administration Team Manager.
Key accountabilities:
- Process membership applications, updates, resignations and member requests.
- Assist with membership retention activities and ensure membership processes are completed accurately.
- Respond to enquiries from members, prospective members and internal stakeholders promptly and professionally.
- Provide accurate information about membership processes and benefits.
- Escalate complex enquiries to the appropriate person where required.
- Maintain accurate member information and documentation within the CRM system.
- Assist with membership contributions and payment processes.
- Monitor payment issues and support follow-up activities where required.
- Manage shared inboxes and provide general administrative support to the Membership Administration team.
- Provide reception support, including greeting visitors, managing sign-in processes and directing enquiries.
- Assist with mail handling and general office coordination tasks.

Experience and qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in an administrative or customer service role.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively within a team environment.
Desirable:
- Experience using a CRM or membership-based system.
- Experience working within a union, membership organisation, not-for-profit or service environment.

Remuneration:
$84,603 – $89,340 per annum plus employer superannuation contributions of 12% for male employees and 12.5% for female employees.
