St Oswalds Church Haberfield
Location: Haberfield, NSW
Location type: On-Site
Date advertised: 29th July 2026
Job Type: Part time, Permanent
Closing Date: 28th August 2026
Two kids in 2020. Seventy now. We’re praying for someone to help lead what’s next.
Role Purpose
St Oswalds Church, Haberfield is seeking a Children's Pastor to lead and grow our children's ministries so that children come to know and follow Jesus, families are discipled and supported, leaders are equipped for ministry, and our church becomes an increasingly welcoming place for local families.
We're praying for someone who loves Jesus deeply, delights in children, enjoys equipping leaders, and is excited by the opportunity to build a flourishing, gospel-centred ministry for the long term.
About St Oswalds
St Oswalds is a growing Anglican Church in Sydney’s Inner West. Planted as a congregation of a multisite parish in 2020, St Oswalds became an independent parish in late 2025 after several years of growth and God's clear leading.
Our interim vision as a new church is to make room: for God, for hidden life with Christ, and for each other. We’re using 2026 to patiently discern the priorities and vision that should shape St Oswalds over the next 5 years. We’re passionate about seeking God in everyday life, reaching our neighbours and friends with the gospel, and praying for renewal in the church and in our city.
The Opportunity
This is an exciting time to join St Oswalds.
Since the church was planted, St Oswalds Kids has grown from two children to about 70, with over 50 each Sunday. We’ve seen particularly strong growth among babies, preschoolers and early primary school aged children. More than fifty volunteers now serve across our children’s ministries, and new families continue to connect to the church.
We believe God has given us the opportunity to build a generational children’s ministry that helps children become lifelong disciples of Jesus. Because our church is still in its early years, we're particularly interested in applicants who see themselves investing over a significant season (five years or more), believing that long-term relationships often grow lasting fruit.
This is a substantial part-time position (4 days per week), with the hope that the role will grow into a full-time position as the ministry continues to expand. The successful applicant will work closely with the Senior Pastor and ministry team while taking primary responsibility for children's ministry.
Remuneration will be provided in accordance with the Sydney Anglican Diocese remuneration guidelines, taking into account qualifications and experience. A housing allowance is also included.
