Role Purpose
The Senior Financial Accountant plays a key role in the core operations of our Finance Team. Specialist Risk Group Australia is a fast-growing specialist commercial insurance broker, and our finance function is the engine room that keeps the business measured, accountable and compliant as we scale.
Reporting to the CFO, you will take ownership of the numbers behind our growth, from the integrity of our general ledger through to the accuracy of our month-end and year-end reporting and the smooth running of our audit process. You will bring a proactive, solutions-focused mindset to a growing finance team, mentoring junior members while continuing to develop your own technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the month-end and year-end financial close processes, including journals, accruals, reconciliations and review of financial results.
- Prepare statutory financial statements and management reports in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards.
- Prepare financial reports and commentary for the CFO, executive management and board.
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial information.
- Manage the external audit process and coordinate responses to audit requirements.
- Prepare budget, forecast and prior-year variance analysis and advise management on financial performance.
- Develop and maintain accounting policies, financial procedures and internal control systems.
- Analyse operating costs, income, expenditure, cash flow and financial risks.
- Coordinate corporate income tax, GST, FBT, payroll tax and other statutory compliance obligations.
- Support acquisition due diligence, completion accounts, financial integration and harmonisation of accounting policies.
- Improve accounting systems, financial reporting tools and finance processes.
- Oversee payroll, accounts payable and expense control processes, including reconciliations and statutory compliance.
About You
· CA or CPA qualified.
· A minimum of four years' experience in financial accounting roles.
· Current knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards.
· Experience working within a large corporate environment.
· Ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines.
· Strong Excel skills and a high level of attention to detail.
· Experience in ERP systems and financial reporting tools highly regarded.
· Strong communication skills, with the confidence to partner across the business.
· High level of integrity, professionalism and discretion.
