As we continue to expand our product range and invest in new technologies, we are looking for a motivated Mechatronics Engineer to join our Engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on innovative transport solutions while developing your technical skills across mechanical, electrical and control systems.
Position Overview
The Mechatronics Engineer will support the design, development and continuous improvement of Austruck X products by integrating mechanical, electrical and electronic systems. Working closely with the Engineering, Production and Operations teams, you will assist in developing practical engineering solutions that improve product performance, safety, manufacturability and reliability.
This role provides excellent exposure to the full product lifecycle from concept and design through to manufacturing, testing and customer support.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Product Development
- Design and development of smart transport solutions including truck bodies, trailers and transport equipment.
- Produce 3D CAD models, engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation.
- Design, develop and program hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and electro-mechanical systems and components.
- Participate in product design reviews and engineering change processes.
- Ensure engineering documentation is accurate and maintained.
- Evaluate client operational specifications to engineer technical concepts and generate accurate cost estimations, material requirements, and commercial quotes.
Manufacturing Support
- Work closely with Production to resolve engineering and manufacturing issues.
- Optimise manufacturing processes and product assembly methods.
- Drive improvement initiatives to improve quality, productivity and efficiency.
- Provide technical support to workshop staff during production and systems integration.
Testing & Validation
- Execute prototype builds, conduct product testing and record results.
- Identify design improvements based on testing and customer feedback.
- Conduct root cause investigations relating to product or manufacturing issues.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Contribute ideas that improve product performance, safety and reliability.
- Evaluate new materials, components and technologies and develop innovative transport and safety solutions.
- Participate in research and development activities where required.
Compliance
- Ensuring design and products compliance with regulations such as ADRs, NHVR requirements, VSB6, Australian Standards, and Austruck X engineering procedures.
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor of Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent qualification.
- At least 3 years' experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Experience using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor or similar.
- Understanding of mechanical design, fabrication, welding, sheet metal, and ISO 9001 quality systems.
- Experience with prototype development and product testing.
- Knowledge of electrical wiring, basic PLC/embedded systems, control systems, and hydraulics/pneumatics.
- Experience within heavy vehicles, automotive, trailers or manufacturing is highly preferred.

Pay: $85,000.00 – $95,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
