Reporting to the Director, the Retail Manager is responsible for the day‐to‐day management of
the entire store, including grocery and fresh‐produce departments, staff, stock, merchandising
and customer service. This is a permanent, full‐time position (38 hours per week) based on site.
Key duties and responsibilities
● Plan, direct and coordinate daily store operations across grocery, fresh produce and
front‐end checkout areas.
● Determine product range, stock levels and service standards, and implement strategies
to maximise sales and profitability.
● Formulate and implement purchasing and marketing policies, including promotions and
pricing for fresh fruit and vegetables and packaged groceries.
● Oversee stock control, including ordering, delivery, storage, stock rotation and wastage
management for perishable produce.
● Maintain records of stock levels, sales and financial transactions, and assist with
budgeting and forecasting for the store.
● Recruit, roster, train and supervise staff; monitor performance and ensure adequate
staffing levels across all trading hours.
● Ensure high standards of customer service; handle escalated customer inquiries and
complaints professionally.
● Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety, food safety and hygiene
requirements, including safe handling and display of fresh produce.
● Analyse sales data and customer trends to make decisions on product mix, pricing and
merchandising.
Skills and experience required
● At least 2–3 years of full‐time experience in a Retail Manager or equivalent
store‐management role in a supermarket, grocery or similar retail environment.
● Proven experience supervising and leading a team of retail staff, including rostering and
performance management.
● Strong understanding of stock control, ordering, inventory management and
merchandising, particularly for fresh fruit and vegetables and perishable goods.
● Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, interpret sales reports and work towards sales
and profit targets.
● Sound knowledge of food safety and WHS requirements in a retail food environment.
● Excellent customer service, communication and problem‐solving skills.
● Ability to work weekends, evenings and public holidays as required in a 7‐day trading
environment.
Pay: $80,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
