Casual Position
Nova Life Support Services is seeking an experienced and energetic Male Disability Support Worker to support a young participant in the Thirlmere area.
Male support workers are preferred by the participant and their family.
This is a highly active role suited to someone who is engaging, patient, motivated, and passionate about helping young people build independence, confidence, and life skills within the community.
About the Role
This support is heavily focused on:
- Community access and engagement
- Skill building and goal-focused supports
- Encouraging independence and emotional regulation
- Building positive routines and social skills
- Supporting participation in outdoor and recreational activities
This is not a sedentary role. Staff must be comfortable participating in:
- Bike riding
- Outdoor activities
- Community outings
- Walking and active engagement throughout shifts
We are looking for someone with a positive attitude who can build strong rapport while maintaining professional boundaries and consistent support approaches.
Essential Experience
Applicants must have demonstrated experience supporting individuals with:
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
- Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD)
- Emotional regulation and behavioural support needs
Essential Requirements
- Experience working with children is mandatory
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Working With Children Check
- Current First Aid & CPR
- Driver’s Licence and reliable vehicle
- Comprehensive Car Insurance
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Reliable and professional presentation
- Ability to work independently and within a team
