About the Role
As a Sustainability Officer / Sustainability Advisor, you will support the delivery of sustainability initiatives, compliance requirements and project-specific sustainability outcomes on a major infrastructure project.
Depending on your experience, you may be supporting key sustainability activities across the project or taking the lead on sustainability systems, reporting, stakeholder engagement and strategic initiatives.
Working closely with the project team, client representatives, subcontractors and wider Georgiou stakeholders, you will help drive practical sustainability outcomes across areas such as resource efficiency, sustainable procurement, carbon and energy management, circular economy, workforce sustainability and environmental impact reduction.

Key Responsibilities
Depending on your level of experience, you will be involved in:
- Supporting or leading the delivery of project sustainability initiatives, objectives and targets.
- Assisting with sustainability compliance requirements, reporting and certification processes.
- Supporting project planning and implementation of sustainability frameworks, including Infrastructure Sustainability and Green Star principles.
- Managing or contributing to onsite sustainability systems to meet Georgiou, client and legislative requirements.
- Identifying risks and opportunities to improve sustainability outcomes across the project.
- Partnering with project teams to reduce environmental impacts and improve resource efficiency.
- Supporting sustainable procurement, resource efficiency, carbon management and circular economy initiatives.
- Preparing or contributing to sustainability reports, project updates and external communications.
- Engaging with stakeholders, including project teams, clients, subcontractors, regulators and sustainability bodies.
- Delivering or contributing to sustainability workshops, training and awareness initiatives.
- Sharing stories that highlight Georgiou’s sustainability achievements internally and externally.
- Supporting project risk assessment activities to identify key environmental and sustainability aspects, impacts and controls.
- Contributing to the delivery of Project Sustainability Documents and Plans, including Sustainability Management Plans and relevant project registers.
- Preparing and collating evidence to support sustainability accreditation targets and rating submissions, including Infrastructure Sustainability requirements.
Your Skills and Experience
We are open to candidates at Officer through to Advisor level. You may already be operating in a sustainability role, or you may be ready to take the next step with the right support and project exposure.
To be successful, you will ideally bring:
- A relevant degree in sustainability, environmental science, environmental engineering, environmental management or a related discipline.
- Experience in a sustainability, environmental or infrastructure advisory role.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with project teams and stakeholders.
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and genuine passion for improving sustainability outcomes.
- Exposure to sustainability frameworks such as Infrastructure Sustainability, ISCA/ISC, Green Star or similar would be highly regarded.
- Knowledge of sustainable procurement, resource efficiency, carbon and energy management, circular economy or environmental impact reduction would be beneficial.
- Strong written communication skills, including the ability to contribute to reporting, presentations and project updates.
- Understanding of Environmental Impact Assessments and Environmental Management Techniques would be beneficial.
- Knowledge of ISO 14001 requirements, environmental licence and approval processes, and environmental monitoring including noise, dust, vibration and water would be highly regarded.
For more experienced candidates, we would also value experience in:
- Leading project sustainability strategies, objectives and targets.
- Managing sustainability systems, reporting and compliance requirements.
- Working with clients, sustainability bodies, regulators and industry stakeholders.
- Coaching, mentoring or supporting project teams and subcontractors in sustainability practices.
