Costerfield Operations, owned and operated by Alkane Resources Ltd, is situated in Central Victoria, east of Bendigo and surrounded by numerous towns within a 50km radius, offering a variety of residential options.
Our current operation runs an underground mine and processing plant that is responsible for producing gold and antimony. The mine's workforce consists of over 250 permanent employees who hold various roles in professional, technical, mining, processing, and trades.

About The Role
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Payroll Officer is responsible for delivering a high-quality, accurate, and timely payroll service. This role oversees the day-to-day payroll operations and uses strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve payroll-related issues. Key responsibilities include:
The key responsibilities of the role include:
· Deliver end-to-end payroll processing for a workforce of up to 300 employees
· Ensure accurate and timely processing of wages in accordance with applicable mining awards, enterprise agreements, site policies, and employment contracts
· Calculate and process leave entitlements, superannuation, taxes, deductions, Workcover and salary packaging
· Ensure compliance with Australian payroll legislation, including PAYG, superannuation guarantee, Fair Work requirements, and relevant state obligations
· Prepare and submit statutory and internal payroll reports, including EOFY reporting and audits
· Respond to payroll queries from employees, supervisors, and management in a professional and confidential manner
· Collaborate closely with HR, Finance, and site leadership to ensure payroll accuracy and data integrity
· Maintain strict confidentiality of employee and payroll information
· Contribute to continuous improvement of payroll systems, processes, and controls, particularly in a high-compliance mining environment
About You
· 4+ years’ experience in processing large volume payroll
· Strong understanding of relevant payroll legislation
· Ability to understand and interpret enterprise agreements
· Experience using Kronos/Payroll Metrics systems is preferred
· Strong customer service focus and the ability to problem solve
· Ability to interpret and understand EBA’s
