Full job description
We are looking for a reliable, organised and proactive housekeeper to help with the ongoing care and upkeep of our home in Darlington.
This is more than a traditional cleaning role. We are looking for someone who takes pride in how a home looks and feels, notices what needs doing and is happy to help keep things running smoothly.
The role
Approximately 4-5 hours per week to perform a house reset
Thursday or Friday between the hours of 8am-3pm would be ideal and we are flexible within those times. The role could work particularly well around school hours, study or another part-time position.
There is also the option of an additional hours for the right candidate to upgrade the organisation systems of the house.
What you’ll help with
The role will include a mix of regular household upkeep, light cleaning and organisation:
- General cleaning and maintaining the home
- Putting away clean laundry
- Keeping rooms tidy, organised and presentable
- Managing weekly, fortnightly and monthly household tasks
- General organisation and helping keep the home running smoothly
The house is already well maintained, so this isn’t about constant deep cleaning. It is about keeping everything on top of, noticing the little things and taking pride in the overall presentation of the home.
We have an existing roster of weekly, fortnightly and occasional tasks, but once you get to know us and the house, we’d love someone who feels comfortable making suggestions or taking initiative where they see something that needs attention.
About our home
There are two adults and one dog in the household, so you must genuinely like and be comfortable around dogs.
We’re looking for someone who is
- Reliable and trustworthy
- Naturally tidy and organised
- Detail-oriented
- Is proactive and has good practical judgement to recognise what needs to be done without being asked
- Comfortable maintaining existing organisation systems and asking questions when unsure rather than making assumptions
- Comfortable around dogs
- Looking for an ongoing, consistent position
Additional desirable
- Understanding of ADHD and the organisation systems that benefit someone with ADHD
- Previous experience as a housekeeper, household manager, cleaner, or similar
- Experience managing a busy household
- Comfortable working around people who may be working from home
