Typical job responsibilities
Monitor environmental impacts such as dust, water quality, noise, waste, and rehabilitation.
Ensure the company complies with environmental legislation and mining approvals.
Prepare environmental reports for government regulators.
Conduct site inspections and environmental audits.
Coordinate rehabilitation of disturbed land after exploration or mining.
Work with Aboriginal Traditional Owners to protect cultural heritage sites.
Obtain permits and approvals before exploration or construction.
Deliver environmental and heritage training to employees and contractors.
Investigate environmental incidents and recommend corrective actions.
Liaise with government agencies, consultants, and local communities.
Typical qualifications
A bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Ecology, Geography, Conservation, or a related field.
Knowledge of Australian environmental and heritage legislation.
A current Australian driver's licence.
Experience with fieldwork and environmental monitoring.
For mining roles, a willingness to work FIFO (Fly-In Fly-Out) rosters is often required.
