Primary objective
Provide allied health assistance and other support as directed for the clients of the Royal Darwin and Palmerston Hospitals. The
Allied Health Assistant will work under the direction of the relevant ward Nurse Unit Manager in the provision of allied health
services to optimise outcomes for the client group.

NT Health provides integrated allied health services in a variety of service settings including acute and sub-acute care, primary health
care, aged care and mental health.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Assist the work unit with service processes and day to day tasks to support operational effectiveness
2. Complete clinical tasks under the direction and delegation of the allied health professionals
3. Assist with the maintenance of allied health equipment and/or stock, including storage, labelling, cleaning, receiving,
distribution, delivery and return, as well as rotation and monitoring levels of equipment, consumables and other resources
4. Support the work unit in administrative duties and assist allied health professionals with client related records as per team
policies
5. Provide support and allow shadowing, as required.
6. Under the delegation of the allied health professional, assist with any required screening of clients using a standardised
screening tool and/or other appropriate questionnaires/resources
7. Assist with Quality Improvement Initiatives within the local work unit
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Awareness of multicultural differences and the impacts on health outcomes
2. Effective communication, interpersonal skills, negotiation and conflict management skills, within a team environment to
achieve positive health outcomes.
3. An ability to work under direction and instruction to assist health professionals provide high quality clinical services in a busy
and changing work environment.
4. Effective time management and organisational skills to ensure duties are carried out efficiently.
5. High level of personal integrity, confidentiality, adaptability and the ability to interact with diverse cultures
6. Effective computer skills, familiarity with Microsoft Office programmes and ability to learn new IT systems
Desirable
1. A nationally recognised certificate III in Allied Health Assistance or equivalent

criminal history check. A criminal history will not exclude an applicant from this position unless it is relevant to the position. This
