The Community Excellence Leader holds a strategic role, responsible for leading our Colleges multicultural and community engagement strategy. Acting as a multicultural bridge between families and our College, the Leader works with the Leadership Team to integrate diverse cultural, linguistic, and social demographics into day to day school life through the organisation of multicultural family events and other community-led initiatives. The initiatives will support our families and local community members, helping them to improve their social connection, language, literacy and parenting skills and assisting them to connect with community support services.The Leader has accountability for designing and overseeing community-led initiatives such as, but not limited to, multicultural mothers' groups, sewing classes, playgroups, English classes, cooking circles and parenting sessions. Furthermore, the Leader deeply embraces and advocates for our diverse families, including our vibrant African, Pasifika, Middle Eastern, and Indian communities, by collaborating extensively with external agencies and community groups to boost family engagement. They will leverage a deep knowledge of our students to advocate for what their parents and carers need to thrive in our community. This role involves overseeing the work of the Community Excellence Officer/s, who will undertake administrative and organisational tasks pertaining to the successful operation of initiatives.
1. Capability Building-
Strategic Oversight: Lead, implement, and continually evaluate the College's multicultural and community engagement strategy in direct alignment with priorities.

Team Management: Provide line management, direction, and mentorship to Community Liaison Officer, building their capacity to implement community initiatives within the College.

School Leadership Advisory: Partner closely with the College Staff and Community Excellence Leadership Team to share data, cultural trends, and community feedback that inform planning.

Financial Acumen: Oversee the community engagement budget, ensuring highly efficient and compliant allocation of resources across programs and hubs.
2. Development & Oversight of Targeted Community Hubs-
Program Design: Conceptualise, launch, and manage community initiatives tailored to family needs, including (but not limited to) multicultural mothers' groups, playgroups, cooking circles, and targeted parent information sessions.

Cultural Safety & Inclusion: Ensure all family initiatives provide a welcoming, supportive, and safe environment that celebrates and respects diverse traditions and customs.

Sustainability & Empowerment: Design program frameworks that build capacity among parent participants, empowering them to transition into active co-facilitators of community groups over time.
3. Intercultural Advocacy & Student-Centric Support-
Demographic Representation: Act as a dedicated cultural champion and advocate for the College¿s diverse student cohort, with a specific focus on supporting our vibrant African, Pasifika, Middle Eastern, and Indian communities.

Student-to-Parent Liaison: Foster deep, personal connections with students to understand their daily experiences, using these insights to accurately identify, anticipate, and advocate for what their parents and carers need to thrive within the school environment.

Cross-Cultural Support: Provide guidance and advocacy in cross cultural matters, ensuring families feel secure, heard, and accurately understood by College staff.
4. External Networking & Community Partnerships-
Agency Collaboration: Cultivate and leverage strategic partnerships with key external agencies, municipal councils, settlement services, and multicultural networks to boost family engagement and bring additional resources into the College.

Network Integration: Connect isolated families with broader external community groups and healthcare/wellbeing services to build a holistic support system outside of school hours.
5. Communications, Event Management & Engagement-
Inclusive Communication: Collaborate with communication team to deliver highly accessible information through newsletters, College wide signage, and Compass using translation frameworks where necessary to break down linguistic barriers.

Cultural Event Coordination: Planning, executing, and review of major multicultural family events, community festivals, and school-wide celebration days to actively bring diverse groups onto the College grounds.

Feedback Loops: Maintain accurate reporting and assessment metrics on event attendance and parent engagement to drive continuous improvement in community outreach
