About the role:
In order to optimise ore recovery in our open pit, it will be your responsibility as the Mine Geologist to apply geological expertise in identifying, mapping, and delineation of ore. Additionally, you will contribute to the ongoing understanding of mineralization and associated structures to increase the accuracy of mine planning grade and tonnage forecasting.
Role and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist and Geology Superintendent, the responsibilities of this role will include:
- Ensuring Open Pit geology functions are completed on a daily basis.
- Assisting with grade control drill programs, including daily management, drill planning and scheduling, liaising with grade control drillers, and data validation.
- Make certain ore block interpretations are completed ahead of planned production, and markups are completed.
- Ensure Blast movement tracking completed to a high standard to minimise dilution and ore loss.
- Liaise with Planning and Production Engineers as well as the mining contractor to contribute to the achievement of production targets.
- Complete geological mapping and 3D interpretations.
- Assist Geology team with end of month reconciliation tasks.
- Ensure all geological data is captured to a high standard including QAQC.
- Provide ongoing feedback to mining and technical services on progress of targets and KPIs.
- Assist Geology Superintendent in delegation of tasks when and where required.
- Ad-hoc projects and duties, as required.
- Ensure compliance with CMM safety policies, The Work Health and Safety Act 2020 and the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022 as well as other appropriate legislation.
Qualifications & Experience:
- BSc (Geology) or equivalent.
- Open Pit experience desirable
- WA Australian Driver’s License C Class or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of geological modeling software, such as Surpac
- Experience with grade control and ore reconciliation.
- Offroad/4WD experience is preferred, with certification or course completion looked upon favourably.
