About the role:
Unitywater's Transformation and Change Portfolio Delivery team sits at the heart of how the organisation delivers on its strategic ambitions, and this role leads the charge on business analysis excellence within it.
As Business Analyst Practice Lead, with deep domain expertise and a passion for helping others build theirs, you will be a hands-on leader and coach in equal measure, personally leading discovery, analysis and solution definition activities while simultaneously uplifting the capability of Unitywater's broader Business Analysis community.
You will role model what great analysis looks like, moving beyond requirements gathering to strategic problem solving, value creation and solution design. Through coaching, mentoring and establishing consistent practices, you will help ensure Unitywater delivers the right solutions, for the right problems, resulting in meaningful outcomes for customers and the community across Southeast Queensland.
What you will be doing:
- Defining and maturing Unitywater's business analysis practice, establishing consistent standards, tools and ways of working that move the team from foundational to leading
- Actively coaching and mentoring the Business Analysis community, building capability in stakeholder engagement, workshop facilitation, requirements engineering, process modelling, benefits articulation and strategic problem solving
- Leading the discovery and definition of complex digital, business and change initiatives, partnering with stakeholders to understand root causes, challenge assumptions and co-design future-state solutions
- Championing a customer-focused and value-driven approach to analysis, ensuring initiatives are aligned to business outcomes, customer needs and strategic objectives
- Collaborating with project teams, architects, delivery partners and stakeholders to ensure solutions are feasible, viable and desirable while balancing scope, value and delivery considerations
- Fostering a collaborative, continuously improving team culture where curiosity is encouraged, innovation is embraced and analysts are empowered to become trusted advisors across the organisation

What you will need (must have)
- A bachelor's degree or higher in information systems, business management, process design or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience delivering complex business and technology-enabled transformation initiatives
- Tertiary-level Business Analysis qualifications together with advanced BPMN and process modelling expertise
- Extensive experience leading business analysis activities across complex programs and initiatives, including discovery, requirements engineering, process improvement, stakeholder engagement and business case definition
- Demonstrated experience coaching and mentoring Business Analysts, building organisational capability across contemporary analysis techniques, benefits realisation, problem framing and value-driven delivery
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including facilitating high-stakes workshops, navigating ambiguity and aligning diverse stakeholder groups around shared outcomes
- Experience leading people through their professional development and wellbeing, while role modelling excellence in the Business Analysis discipline across an organisation
What will set you apart (nice to have)
- Experience defining or uplifting enterprise business analysis frameworks, standards, practices and methodologies
- Experience applying adaptive and iterative delivery approaches within complex business environments
- Experience working with third-party vendors to deliver value-for-money outcomes
- Exposure to the water industry or a similarly regulated utility environment
- Demonstrated systems thinking capability, understanding the interrelationships between organisational components to optimise business outcomes and delivery decisions
