About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 2 – Patient Flow and Virtual Nurse to join the MLHD Patient Flow and Transport Unit.
This innovative role combines advanced clinical expertise with virtual care delivery to support patient flow, clinical decision-making and interfacility transfers across the District. Working closely with local clinicians, the Patient Flow and Transport Unit, Critical Care Advisory Services and Retrieval Services, you will provide expert clinical consultation and support to facilitate timely access to care and safe patient progression.
As the Clinical Nurse Consultant, you will:

Demonstrate advanced clinical assessment, decision-making and consultation skills.

Have the ability to support clinicians through virtual care platforms and complex patient flow processes.

Be confident coordinating interfacility transfers and navigating competing clinical priorities.

Demonstrate strong leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Be committed to evidence-based practice, quality improvement and service development.

Thrive in a collaborative multidisciplinary environment and contribute to education, mentoring and capability building across the District.

About You
Our ideal candidate will demonstrate:

Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse.

Have minimum 5 years post-registration nursing experience, including at least 3 years recent experience within a critical care environment.

Completion of a Graduate Nurse Program or equivalent
-
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
-
A strong commitment to person-centred care, cultural safety, and ongoing professional development.
-
Ability to undertake travel as required across the District.
